Safe Jumps





Well here we go... back into the lab. Today i'm going to go over safe jumps of the whole cast here we go!


So what is a safe jump? 
Well after an untechable knockdown, you are able to apply FREE pressure most of the time. So how does applying pressure benefit you? Well you are able to build meter. If the person takes the safer route and blocks, you are able to use a safe block string to do so.

So how do you properly safe jump? After the untechable knockdown all you have to do is immediatly move your joystick upwards where you would then use an attack that is "meaty" (an attack that has creates a lot of block stun. In ryu's situation it would be his jumping roundhouse).

What are my opponents options on wakeup?
Even though you are able to apply free pressure from safe jumps, most characters are able to get out of it by using their unique moves. One universal option on wakeup would be the back dash. When knocked down, ALL characters are able to get out of trouble by simply back dashing. One character specific move would be Akuma's teleport on wakeup;Akuma is able to escape the safe jump by teleporting out.






How can I counter my opponents wakeup options?
Simply put, by using option-selects you are able to defeat your opponents wake-up option!


Take Abels wakeup EX marseilles roll. By using the OS grab Abel is not able to escape the pressure and the situation resets.

Characters that can be safe jumped but can't be meatied: What i mean about getting meatied is that you aren't able to jump in and hit them with an attack in which they are forced to block because of the block stun. Instead the move whiffs.
